Job Purpose
The Geomatics Engineer will support KVR Energy’s delivery of technology-enabled surveying, mapping, inspection and spatial-data solutions across the energy, industrial, marine, infrastructure and government sectors.
The role combines field engineering, geospatial data acquisition, surveying, GIS, remote sensing and digital technologies to help clients better understand, monitor and manage physical assets and environments.
The successful candidate will be technically capable, comfortable working in the field and interested in developing expertise across emerging technologies including UAV/drone surveying, GNSS, LiDAR, photogrammetry, hydrographic and geospatial data systems.

Key Responsibilities
1. Geospatial Surveying & Data Acquisition

• Conduct and support topographic, engineering and asset surveys using GNSS, total stations and other surveying equipment.
• Establish and verify survey control points, benchmarks and coordinate systems.
• Collect accurate spatial information for engineering, construction, infrastructure and asset-management applications.
• Support field surveys in industrial plants, marine environments and remote locations.

2. UAV, Remote Sensing & Digital Mapping

• Support UAV/drone-based mapping, inspection and photogrammetry activities.
• Process imagery and survey data to generate orthomosaics, point clouds, digital elevation models and 3D representations.
• Support the integration of LiDAR, thermal imaging, visual inspection and other sensor data where required.
• Assist in evaluating emerging geospatial technologies that can strengthen KVR’s technical services.

3. GIS, Data Processing & Technical Analysis

• Process, analyse and manage geospatial datasets using appropriate GIS and surveying software.
• Develop maps, drawings, models and other client-ready technical outputs.
• Integrate field data with GIS, CAD and engineering information.
• Maintain accurate project data, metadata, coordinate references and quality-control records.

4. Project & Client Delivery

• Participate in site assessments, field mobilisation and project execution.
• Prepare technical reports, survey outputs, drawings and supporting documentation.
• Work alongside KVR engineers, technicians, technology partners and clients to deliver multidisciplinary assignments.
• Support preparation of scopes of work, methodologies, proposals, quotations and technical presentations.
• Ensure assigned work is delivered safely, accurately and within agreed project schedules.

5. Safety, Quality & Professional Standards

• Comply fully with KVR HSSE procedures and client site requirements.
• Conduct appropriate field risk assessments and equipment checks.
• Maintain high standards of data integrity, accuracy and traceability.
• Protect client and company information and maintain appropriate project records.
• Demonstrate professional conduct when representing KVR at client facilities and in the field.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Land Surveying, Geospatial Engineering, Geoinformatics or a closely related discipline.
• Sound understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, GNSS and spatial-data management.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maps and geospatial datasets.
• Competence with relevant GIS, CAD or surveying software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake fieldwork and travel locally and regionally.
• Valid Trinidad & Tobago driver’s licence or ability to obtain one.

Desirable

• Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Trimble, Leica or comparable platforms.
• Experience with UAV/drone surveying and photogrammetry software.
• Knowledge of LiDAR, point-cloud processing or 3D modelling.
• Exposure to hydrographic or marine surveying.
• Experience within energy, industrial, construction or infrastructure environments.
• UAV pilot certification or willingness to undertake appropriate training.
• Relevant professional registration or progress towards registration.
