Role Summary
The Marine Technician will support the delivery, installation, commissioning and servicing of marine electronics and related systems across leisure, commercial and government vessels. The role is intended to strengthen execution capacity within the Marine Division and support skills transfer, mentoring and training under the guidance of the Lead Marine Technician.
This position is hands-on and delivery-focused, with a strong emphasis on learning, technical discipline and partner-aligned standards.
Technical Support & Installation:
• Assist with the installation, configuration and testing of marine electronics and systems, including navigation, communications, thermal cameras, sensors and related equipment.
• Support commissioning and basic fault-finding under supervision.
• Carry out cable runs, mounting, terminations and system checks in accordance with marine standards.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and service visits.
Training & Development:
• Work closely with the Senior Marine Technician to develop technical competence and practical field skills.
• Participate in internal and partner-led training programmes as required.
• Support documentation of installations and lessons learned to improve consistency and quality.
Operational Support:
• Assist with job preparation, equipment checks and site readiness.
• Maintain tools, test equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
• Follow company HSSE procedures and marine safety requirements at all times.
Customer & Partner Interaction:
• Conduct oneself professionally on client sites and vessels.
• Support partner expectations around quality, presentation and reliability.
• Escalate technical issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
Essential Requirements:
• Formal technical training or certification in marine, electrical, electronic, or instrumentation systems (trade certification, vocational qualification, or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience supporting installations and servicing of technical systems in a marine or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings, wiring diagrams and installation manuals.
• Willingness and ability to work on vessels and in marine environments, in compliance with safety procedures.
• Strong practical aptitude, discipline and ability to work to defined technical and safety standards.
• Professional conduct when working on client sites and representing the company and its partners.
Desirable:
• Recognised marine or electrical certifications (e.g. marine electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or equivalent).
• Prior experience with marine electronics brands and systems (navigation, communications, sensors, thermal cameras).
• Basic understanding of IP networking, power distribution, grounding and signal integrity.
• Marine safety or small craft certification.
• Experience working under partner or OEM installation standards.
